Coming along at week 23

I think about updating this often, but only occasionally does it get done...obviously.

I have enjoyed receiving these updates from BabyCenter.com and I usually forward them to my family. I thought it would be fun to post them here to as I add my own insight as indicated by the (*note), so here goes...

How your baby's growing:

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that he's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes (*indeed I did notice it the other day when I could see somebody knocking on my tummy!). Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking (*I'm convinced he can hear Mackers when he is on my lap purring...they are bonding!) or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb (*except the vacuum cleaner isn't run all that often...sometimes it scares me!).

See what your baby looks like this week.

We are having a...

BOY!! I am so excited and so is Keith.

Last Thursday, June 26th the sonographer was able to tell us the exciting news. Promptly following the doctor's appointment Keith, Mom, Dad, Kathy and I did a little shopping to celebrate the big news.

I am feeling great and I am so excited for what our little bundle of joy will bring to us.

Hope everyone is well.

Love ya,
Erica

Guess what...

We are starting a family!!!

Keith and I have been happily married for almost three months and just a few short weeks ago, we discovered that I'm preggers! I am still in shock!! I should have been more clued in with all the signs and all but no. Keith is so excited as are our families. This means that Baby Uplinger will have a cousin only a couple months older and Austin will be a great mentor!!

I have been feeling pretty good up until this weekend. Thank goodness for the long Easter weekend and having Good Friday off work! I have been hit with the classic nausea which seems to be lasting all day and the constant feeling of fatigue. Food sounds like a terrible idea and the only comfort seems to come from our cozy bed with a glass of water and stack of crackers nearby.

Our first doctor's appointment is scheduled for April 3 and I can't wait. At that point, I'll be 8 weeks pregnant (per my calculation) with Baby due on November 12 - also by my calculation.

There will be LOTS to do in the coming months and hopefully I'll be able to keep you up to date with all our adventures!

Much love,
Erica
